Between...

Between the century and the shoe
came the war, the torture,

the injustice and the blood,
the rage and the sorrow
and the tapping and the flood.

Between the eleventh and the crash
came the shock, the awe,
the anguished and the dreaded,
the widowed and the scourged,
the bombed and beheaded.

Between the reign and the snow
came the child’s vacant stare,
the grief and the wrath,
the tears and the scowl,
the starving and the flag.

Between the heaven and the hell
came the lies and the spin,
the tanks and the guns,
the free and imprisoned,
mankind and his sun.

There were no angels….

Craig Welch takes viewers inside a surreal, meticulously crafted world to meet a mysterious protagonist and his otherworldly visitor.

In this surreal exposition, we meet a man, obsessed with control. His intricate gadgets manipulate yet insulate, as his science dissects and reduces. How exactly are wings attached to the back of angels? In this invented world drained of emotion, where everything goes through the motions, he is brushed by indefinite longings. Whether he can transcend his obsessions and fears is the heart of the matter. A film without words.

Directed by : Craig Welch. Produced in 1996...

-How Wings are Attached to the Backs of Angels-

REMEMBERING... again

Remember it well.
(Me? I remember it.)
Not the day, the date, or the event. This moment.
(The anniversary. I remember.)
No. The moment’s passing.
(This day, five years ago?)
This. This. This moment. This one.
(I do. Of course I remember this day.)
No. No. No.
(Of that moment the shutter snapped slowly. I saw it all.)
Not the pictures. Not the continual loop. Now.
(I hold them inside me.)
No.
(Yes. Probably a reflex.)
Not the tears. The dread. The flying flesh. This moment. Now.
(I was in shock then, but I remember the planes and the death.)
This moment! This! This! This! This one! Now! Terror! Now!
(I knew we had changed and I remember the dead.)
Now! Now! Now!
(Yes! 9-11 is etched in my mind! I remember this day!)
Are you an idiot?
I am talking about this moment now! Two-thousand and eight!
Not the moment of impact!
Not the moment of plummeting!
Not the moment of being unable to breathe!
Not the excruciating video of the jumpers!
(Jumpers? I don’t recall. Really?)
I mean this moment! This one, as we speak!
(I remember the numbing hum all about us.)
I am talking about now!
(Believe you me I’ve tried to forget.)
Are you insane?
(Evil crashed into America!)
This moment. This one. This moment.
(What amount of time? In terror?)
What did you say?

(I said what amount of time constitutes a moment?)
Are you sure, because that didn’t sound like what I heard?
(When?)
What you said a moment ago.
(I asked you what constitutes a moment?)
...Time.
(How much time?)
Depends on the terror.
(So a moment can mean- Wait. What did you just say?)
When?
(Just a moment ago. Depends on what?)
Depends on the moment. How much time depends upon the moment.
(...So a moment can be a split second or less or even a bit more?)
Yes.
(I do not recall the day before or the day after, but I commemorate the dead because I certainly remember that day.)
How about now?
(Now?)
Years later, do they smolder as if they're real?
(I choose not to recall in that way.)
Do you recall what the US used to be?
(Yes. Freedom rings here. Bravery. God bless America. It’s still like that now. It’s the world that’s changed.)
No. Nothing has changed. It remains the same...unchanged.
(You lost me… What?)
This day, this moment is not being used as a tool for bettering a hungry world,
nor is it being used to transform, or scrap altogether,
A grotesquely inequitable US foreign policy...
(What?)
It is being used… just not for any good.
(How can you-?)
I would rather remember the fight… the dissent.
(What the hell are you talking about?)
I'd rather it burn, etched into my mind,
So solid inside me that in the future
This day might finally be used for good;
Some peaceful change instead of more warring.
(What are you saying?)
What I’d really like to know is why?
(Why?)
Yes.
Why does civilization permit bloody shrieking war?
Why?
(War came to us on this day!)
No! Now it didn’t! War is not here now!
(We fight them over there so-)
We begin life without weapons
(-we don’t have to fight them here.)
Why not continue bare of them?
(The US without a defense?! Are you crazy?)
THE WORLD! THE WORLD!
(Okay. Relax. Sheesh.)
Be free of them.
After all, the more weapons
and the more lethal the weapons
steps us nearer the turbulent abyss
and hearkens to the extinguishments
of the flames which light our days.
(What?)
Man at birth was naked, not armed
with knives and guns and bombs
for meaningless murdering.
(You lost me at extinguishments.)
Why permit them to flourish? Protect them?
Is it that we might remain free?
Might sideways glance and laughter?
To off the marauding terrorist
with evil in their hearts
because a bomb or gun sent their country
coffins instead of bread?
(Huh?)
Is it that we might sleep in deepness
and wake to a brighter day;
a day that flinches not at the destitute,
a day that nourishes a neglected humanity?
Would we need rid ourselves of transportation altogether,
considering airplanes?
(You’re insane…)
If all weapons were pins and needles
would an acupuncturist be a terrorist?
Might humankind be more blinded from the prick of a pin
than from the penetrating shrapnel of a bomb?
(Okay! You’re not making any sense here! I think you’re suffering from post-traumatic stress!)
Why?
(9-11. Godlessness. Hating America. Take your pick.)
Why do we pay for our government's bombs?
Is it that we can justify the difference,
the shameful, miniscule difference between
Israeli children signing rockets
intended to land upon Lebanon
and our signing tax forms
knowing the money will go for weapons,
bombs meant to kill indiscriminately?
(You need a long vacation…)
Why?
(Trust me.)
Why?
Why do we allow these villains and swindlers
to continue to send others to die;
our children to die for phantoms,
for the insidious sucking sound of greed?
(Oh! My God! I’ll pray for your pitiful soul!)
Why?
(Salvation!)
Is this the culmination of time?
Of life?
Of God?
Shouldn’t we demand they disarm?
Shouldn’t we all be weapons inspectors
dismantling death one stockpile at a time?
Isn’t it our duty to see that the world breathes?
Humanity continues to stride beneath the heavens?
Do we not owe it to creation to root them out?
To oust these warmongering misfits from power,
Every last Goddamned one of them?
(Watch your mouth!)
Why?
(Blasphemer!)
Why be threatened with extinction by God
when we have hellish weapons,
searing sun, depleted uranium and ozone,
sludge filled seas and sapping river,
and oily, mercury tainted fish and the air.
Oh! God! Yes! The air!
(You need to stop this right now!)
Why?
(Because it’s not right! This day is meant for mourning! Besides, you sound like a televangelist, minus God!)
Mustn’t we breathe to enjoy the fruits of our labor?
Mustn’t we leave this world livable at our passing?
Sleep with both eyes closed,
Rest knowing we cared?
Not be forced to recall moments of man made horror
And brushes with prowling, ticking death…
(Of all the days to spout this kind of crap! You should be ashamed of yourself! You! You’re the one who’s the terrorist!)
Why?
(Because!)
Why must I be a terrorist?
(Because, you don’t remember the lessons!)
I REMEMBER THIS MOMENT
I REMEMBER IT ALL, YOU
SELF RIGHTEOUS SYCOPHANT!
Let the world remember it now!
For God’s sake, swim in it!
Bathe in its stench!
This! This! This moment! Now!
(If you don’t love America why don’t you move to France?)
Why?
(They'd love you!)
I remember this moment!
This one now!
I recall its needlessness!
Its uselessness!
(Forget France! You can go to hell, you America hater! Go straight to hell!)

I’ve memorized its wrinkled horror!
Studied our made for TV storyline filmed as reality!
I recall this moment! This moment now!
The moment we bowed our head,
the moment we woke,
the moment we screamed,
the moment we cried,
the moment we bled,
the moment we died!

WE MAY HAVE ALREADY...

Loved everything and everyone worth hating
And hated everyone and everything worth loving

Recognized everybody we’re ever going to know
With a sideways glance in a dime store trench coat

Memorized all the arrogant words to our country’s anthem
Forgetting how to say “thank you” and “you’re welcome”

Neglected to learn the golden lessons
Shared by the old whore’s toothless hum

Found new enemies easier to make
Than keeping old friends along the way

Become invisible under our own skins
(Within a cubicle is no place to expect miracles
We’ll find God in a sandbox, breathing in the oil that holds us there)

Succumbed to freedom’s aneurysm
Wrist sliced open like a vanilla sky
On a September morning's baptism

Fallen, flailing to the ashen ground
Like a Raggedy Ann doll
Tossed out the mouths of a pair of tall clowns

“Is that a bird?”

“No! It’s a child dropped from God’s hand!”

“Move along, folks. Nothing new to see here.
Move along now. Next stop- Disney Land!”

Died several times over
Our corpse a twisted metal frame
Smoldering at the foot of consumption

Inhaled a snout full of a white, powdery substance
As we lingered a bit too long in the airport terminal
Waiting on our own delayed wings to come in
Waiting to feel them burst through our flesh and bone
Only to run screaming, like a suicide bomber, to the nearest pharmacy
In search of painkillers and a magazine for the long flight home.

WE SHALL NEVER FORGET AUGUST 6, 2001

~

August 6, 2001: Bush Administration Warned 'Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States'

Two and a half years after 9/11, the American public learned today that President Bush received explicit warnings that Osama bin Laden was planning to attack the United States – including activities "consistent with preparations for hijacking." Yet, there was no domestic follow-up by the Bush administration. No high level meetings. No sense of urgency. No warnings to FBI agents across the country.
We now know why the Bush administration has been hiding the Aug. 6, 2001, intelligence briefing for the president, called "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States." All of the 9/11 Commission members – Republicans and Democrats – have asked the Bush administration to declassify this document. There are precedents for releasing presidential daily briefings and the American public deserves to know what President Bush knew and when.

We also learned that there appears to have been no response to explicit and repeated warnings about al Qaeda attacks. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice's claim that the FBI sent warnings to field offices was directly disputed by commissioners who said they had conducted thousands of interviews and reviewed thousands of documents. Their conclusion: no one at the FBI can recall such orders.

Today's hearing also confirmed evidence that the administration had done little or nothing to combat the terrorist threat between Jan. 20, 2001, and Sept. 10, 2001. Rice repeatedly used the claim that the administration was developing a "strategic approach" as an excuse for not acting. There was no response to the bombing of the USS Cole that claimed 17 American lives and the administration tried to cut counterterrorism funding.

WE SHALL NEVER FORGET AUGUST 6, 2001

Sleeping now are the eyes of a weary land
and a quietude of expectation nestles in without objection
as we, the inhabitants, close eyes to this;
our monumental watch
and falling upon deaf ears,
the warming waters groan laps at our exposed and tender shore.

We’ve no time for lullabies …heavy rains a coming,
surging toward our liberty like buckling steel frames.
O dreams of yesterday will not comfort our present sloth,
our minds need piercing to recall this beginning!

Review not the canopies decent,
or the yawning hole in our five-sided shield,
or the plummeting souls voyaging homeward,
or the bird plunging short to plant a scorched field;
none of these stir the mind where freedom’s loved,
they bow only at the feet of bloodlust
and do not serve our better selves.

We may yet quake and moan at what came before,
but it is that which followed that we shall never forget.

THE TWO HORSEMEN

>

Jim Webb of Virginia was selected to give the Democratic response to Bush's SoTU, and boy, did they make the right choice. Webb hit all the right notes, his points impressive and unassailable. Rather than even dignify the fearmongering and drawing of parallels of 9/11 to aggression in the Middle East, Webb just pointed out that the Democrats are representing the will of the people in their desire to see an end to the quagmire and that if Bush didn't want to listen to the people that put him in office, the Democrats would lead him to the will of the people.
"If he does, we will join him. If he does not, we will be showing him the way."

Hagel Gives `em Hell (Video)

"I don't think we've ever had a coherent strategy. In fact, I would even challenge the administration today to show us the plan that the president talked about the other night. There is no plan. I happen to know that Pentagon planners were on their way to Central Com over the weekend -- they haven't even Team B'ed this plan.... There is no strategy. This is a ping-pong game with American lives.... We'd better be damned sure what we're doing, all of us, before we put 22,000 more lives into that grinder.... and I want every one of you, every one of us, 100 senators to look in that camera, and you tell your people back home what you think. Don't hide any more, none of us."

THE TWO HORSEMEN

POET
The trumpet sounds above their dark village
And the slope of wet desire moves them nearer,
Breathing hotly upon the newly expectant spirits
The nighttime sounds of yearning fill the air.
MAN
Is it them?
O! I hope they’re here!
Do they approach?
O! I pray they’ll come?
POET
Tonight the two horsemen are said to be imminent,
Riding fast, their steeds strapped with blazing purpose
Ready to liberate the lands seaward sons and daughters,
Mend the torn away air and smooth the towering loss…
WOMAN
Sentry? Tell us what you hear!
Speak of what you see?
Is it the horsemen?
Are they beautiful saviors?
SENTRY
The horsemen are mortal men born out of our desire,
Our wish for someone willing to speak with certainty
And not cower of the prowling beast’s oppression,
To dispute the salvo of war-jawed tales of terror.
MAN
We don’t need you thinking!
We need you seeing and hearing
You blubbering idiot!
Now do you see them or-
SENTRY
Yes! Yes! They come!
I see two riders!
POET
The streets erupt in joyous hoorahs and release.
Yes. It has been said that the two horsemen
Shall transport the people's bleeding liberty home
And right the tumbling and despotic vessel.
So it is said…
SENTRY
No! No!
Oh! My God!
There are more than two!
WOMAN
More than two?
MAN
How many?
SENTRY
Oh, Jesus…
MAN
How many!
SENTRY
Thousands…
WOMAN
A thousand beautiful horsemen?
SENTRY
No. Many thousands.
MAN
Horsemen born out of our desire...

DRIFTING UNDER THE SUN

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia (AP) -- Evangelical broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday that God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would cause a "mass killing" late in 2007.
"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network.
"The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."
Robertson said God told him about the impending tragedy during a recent prayer retreat.
God also said, he claims, that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime
after September.

DRIFTING UNDER THE SUN

The gleaming gates have again swung wide
On the godforsaken orb drifting under the sun.

We should not listen to indifference any longer.
We should not listen to those with god-smacking jaws.
We should not listen to those with money and interests.
We should not regard the voices in their slumbering lechery.
We should only listen to our gut, heed only our crimson center.
And we most certainly needn’t listen to Pat Robertson’s treachery.

If, since 9/11, terror’s been unleashed on America it has been this;
Fear of: mass killings, assassination, stroke, wrath, and vengeance.

The sermonizing, amplifying, braying man straps God to his breath
And beats down upon the heads of fools starving themselves of love.
This fetid preacher isn’t speaking for anyone but those that live his lie;
"I have a relatively good track record," he said. "Sometimes I miss."
It is unmistakably and excruciatingly apparent that he is acting alone.

His ignorant congregations consume the roots of life’s emerald hours.
His god-smacking flock of cheerless sheep swill these tales of doom
Like children hopeful for candy or their warrior parent’s happy return.

Doom and gloom make a black gown for the gentle wind to wear
And useless tales of His spoken voice plow holes for its grave...

THIS IS NOT A POEM

READ THE POEM +/-
(Lost Ideas... Ben Heine - Cartoons)

This is not a poem.
I am waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting for peace
to break out.
Waiting for the rain
to stop.
Holding on for dear life.
Holding.
Holding.
Holding on
for Guantanamo,
for Abu Ghraib,
for God.
This is not a poem.

Sensing the time has come.
Wait.
Wait for Human Rights
waiting to fly by,
waiting for the light
to change.

I’m waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting for torture in my name.
Clear Skies,
Clean Air,
Healthy Forest,
Truthiness and Lies.
No

Arsenic and Lakes,
tapped lead,
Mountain Top

This is not a poem.

I am waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting for peace to break out.
Waiting for the rain,
to conquer the oil,
the dirty air
to conquer the fear in itself
to conquer the queers
and despair
and to conquer space;
the unknown frontier,
Pre-war,
pre-9/11,
pre-earth,
pre-heaven
air.

I’m waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting on the Duct Tape
To be
cause the Levee’s busted
or not to be
Freedom's repatriation,
inactivation,
indoctrination,
desensitization,
dematerialization
throughout the nation,
Post-war,
post-9/11,
post-earth,
post-heaven,
post-peace.
This is not a poem.

I am waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting for the Geneva Conventions,
Patriot Act intentions,
Militarization,
Halliburton recidivism,
Iraqi liberators,
Arabic translators,
War on Gays,
War on Terror,
War on Christmas,
Schaivo,
Gitmo,
the theoretical blow
of the parenthetical
mushroom cloud,
Root and Kellogg Brown,
Habeas Corpus
rain comin’ down…

I’m waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting…
CIA.
FBI.

Bring `em on!
Stay the course!
Frustrated.
Infuriated.
Consternated.
Ill fated.

Miscalculations.
Destabilization.
A sovereign nation.
People’s castigation!

I’m waiting!
Waiting!
Waiting!
Waiting!
This is a prayer.
A plea.
A cry.
A hope.
A wish.

ONE LIFE ONE SKULL ONE BONE ONE MOMENT

READ THE POEM +/-
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said construction work will continue at Ground Zero, despite recent finds of human remains at the site.
He said the discoveries, which included 18 fragments found on Sunday, would not halt work at the 9/11 attack site.
Families of more than 1,100 of those who died have never received any remains of their loved ones.
New finds of bones and human fragments last Friday sparked angry calls for the construction work to be halted.

One life. One skull. One bone. One moment.

Human remains…
nothing to you,
another collateral shard,
political gain,
fragment of meaningless life
spiraling underground
beneath the weight
of thousands.

Raise thy fetid memorial,
bury the unburied.
Appearances…
soiled callousness,
numb sanctimony
of one.

What if it were two
Or twenty?

Would the dark machines
pause? Bow their heads,
bent in mechanical prayer?

Rewind the tape,
see a flash, a passport,
a bomb, a gun, a skull,
a bone, a soul sealed deep
down, down, down…
dead…again.

FLOOR BY FLOOR, BEAM BY BEAM, SOUL BY SOUL

(A Ben Heine Illustration)

O! Madness of our most maddening day!
You come as an unshakable memory
Sidling up against our ashen skin,
Howling low your senseless deluge,
Through bitter sky you plummet to our minds;
Tattered ruins of time floating face down
Floor by floor, beam by beam, soul by soul…

The squall, long gone, remains a dust of shattered will
Standing on the bitter streets of these events
Bringing quarrel to honest men in dwindling light.
A jagged state split by wealth and power;
Haves and have mores cackling in wretchedness,
Hording the air in search of our lungs
Floor by floor, beam by beam, soul by soul…

Molding a single day into mantra for empire;
Rattling sabers and beating drums to tyranny’s stride.
You crushed them; you still crush them in rigid desire.
O! Let this day alone! You must now let it be!
Let them rest. Let the embers fade. Let them go!
Release this day. Liberate it. Set it free
Floor by floor, beam by beam, soul by soul…

OMNIPRESENT ENEMY

READ THE POEM +/-

John Mueller is Professor of Political Science at Ohio State University and the author of "The Remnants of War." He is currently writing a book about reactions to terrorism and other perceived international threats that will be published early next year. This is his article that appears on Foreign Affairs.

THE MYTH OF THE OMNIPRESENT ENEMY
For the past five years, Americans have been regularly regaled with dire predictions of another major al Qaeda attack in the United States. In 2003, a group of 200 senior government officials and business executives, many of them specialists in security and terrorism, pronounced it likely that a terrorist strike more devastating than 9/11 -- possibly involving weapons of mass destruction -- would occur before the end of 2004. In May 2004, Attorney General John Ashcroft warned that al Qaeda could "hit hard" in the next few months and said that 90 percent of the arrangements for an attack on U.S. soil were complete. That fall, Newsweek reported that it was "practically an article of faith among counter terrorism officials" that al Qaeda would strike in the run-up to the November 2004 election. When that "October surprise" failed to materialize, the focus shifted: a taped encyclical from Osama bin Laden, it was said, demonstrated that he was too weak to attack before the election but was marshalling his resources to do so months after it.
On the first page of its founding manifesto, the massively funded Department of Homeland Security intones, "Today's terrorists can strike at any place, at any time, and with virtually any weapon."
But if it is so easy to pull off an attack and if terrorists are so demonically competent, why have they not done it? Why have they not been sniping at people in shopping centers, collapsing tunnels, poisoning the food supply, cutting electrical lines, derailing trains, blowing up oil pipelines, causing massive traffic jams, or exploiting the countless other vulnerabilities that, according to security experts, could so easily be exploited?
One reasonable explanation is that almost no terrorists exist in the United States and few have the means or the inclination to strike from abroad. But this explanation is rarely offered. (Full article.

OMNIPRESENT ENEMY

This year what shall we commemorate?
What ghosts shall accompany our odes?
Are we forever to bow to a headless myth?
Is it right? Is it hopeful? Will it pass on,
Joining those without cause now gone?

Time is a fickle creature shaped like dreams;
Last year can be no more than one year,
The year before that and the next and the next.
Ghosts wander in our minds not upon the ground
And only in dreams might we call to them.

Rage flies swiftly dispersing its grave weight
And we feel nothing behind our dead face.
Have we ever felt anything, headless phantoms, we?
Last year mocks not the year before.
It is we, we who mock the solemn red dawn.

We’ll soon bow our headless heads
In majestic awe and whispers of vengeance
Soaring on high, burdening the ground
With a wrathful screeching sound.

Next year how shall we mourn?

SQUALLING STILLNESS

At the weekend, one top state department official called them a good PR move to draw attention", while the camp commander said it was an "act of asymmetric warfare waged against us". "I wouldn't characterise this as a good PR move," Cully Stimson, US deputy assistance secretary of defence, told the BBC's Today programme, on Monday. "What I would say is that we are always concerned when someone takes his own life, because as Americans we value life even if it is the life of a violent terrorist captured waging war against our country."

(With the minuscule world’s squalling stillness
Erupting solidly through the callous smoothness
Are we to downright believe the upright deceit,
To misunderstand its audacious correctness?

This finite universe lashes kindly against its void.
Words are meaningless in the silent pertinence,
Our smiling and dismal days writhe still of wishes
And turn back goodness upon their deviant constancy…)

How could words have lost their meaning that day?
Why is nothing to be believed after the plane’s shadows?
Have they so ruthlessly shattered our principles
That even our language holds no meaning?

How can we conceive serenity lying in the fatal position?
How can we erect peace with all of our words bent in war?
If we fight for other’s freedoms while our own fall away
The shrieking birds toppled more than just our towers…

Big Stick and a Carrot (The Anomoly)

LEAVE THE BOX CUTTER, CARRY THE LIE

For this flight
Have we enough food
To nourish our dark and horrid famine?
Have we plenty water
To ease across the razor’s barren edge?
Have we sufficient breath
To coax this; our collusion deep within?
Have we ample shelter
From this; our own deceitful tomb?

(Truth. Have we none?)

Who needs the goddamned truth?
Lies, for us, are more valuable,
Made to easily pass through
The takeoff's devising eyes.
It’s the clever packing of truth and lies
Into a single carry-on that is the trick.

(Lies?)

Yes!
It won’t turn the plane’s shadow into flame.

(Flame?)

Yes!
It won’t cut the neck of our slipshod freedom.

(Freedom?)

Yes!
It won’t bring massive terror to our shores.

(Terror? Freedom? Flame?)

Yes! Lies! You goddamned traitor!
Lies; packed together as one
They more easily sound round
Edging near enough to truth.

WIDOWED

The sun had its sky, the sky had its blue,
The blue had its clouds, all held to an ensuing loss.

The world had its nectar to offer; stunning mountain ranges,
Plentiful fields of grain, sustaining waters…

The sky did then forsake them on this day;
Widowed of a pristine love bathing them in joy,
The weight of it unhappily tumbled down,
Congregating with one another, mourning…

The sun had its sky, the sky had its blue,
The blue had its clouds, all gripped in looming collapse.

After the shock of death’s swift alliance with anger
They held their heads high and marched onward,
All the while in grief’s search they strode past denial
And posed the earth's hovering question;
Why? Why did the sky abandon our trust?
“I’ve never seen people enjoying their husband’s death so much.”
Screeched the hollow voice of the rigor-mortis-bitch-of-rant;
The miscreant’s language spilled from an empty breach
Splintering, once again, the solemn day’s widowed sky.

9/11 Widows
Rush Attacks Widows
Widows for Kerry
He Can Make us Safe
9/11 Widows "Why?"
From Tragedy to Hope

SLEEPING IN

Winking in our dreams
Slumbering past this; our night's error
Sleeping deeply beyond the breaking hour
Leasing mass murderers to slip inside our care

Winking in our dreams
Twisting complicit in cradle’s red linen
We are drowning of this our slacked truth
Sleeping deeply inside mourning nine eleven

White sound weaves
Our breath upon our headless tyranny
Slips inside our busy lives dawdling hope
We are drowning of our worthless quiet dissent

It is time to awake
Cease and desist our hideous moment
Let slip your blade’s humanity within its rib
Awake open eyed of our most looming descent

PATRONIZE THIS!

I am as sorry for our loss on nine-eleven as the next idiot, but I hate being patronized to with absurd reminders, "3000 lives" and "biggest terrorist attack on US soil" and "they hate us for our freedom" and "we haven't been attacked again thanks to Bush"!

I want to scream!

It really irks me to hear such idiocy!
Then to top it off with the inane conclusion, "We fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here" is complete insanity! Comparably they should just say, "We ship our jobs over there so you won't have to work over here!"

I want to scream!

The "Over there instead of here" philosophy boils down to the
exportation of death and destruction!

I want to scream!

Why the hell did we overthrow a
regime that had nothing to do with 9/11!

I want to scream!

The people that will constantly remind us of tragedy and stoke our fear of terrorism (Bush, et al) are to be regarded as dangerous to
liberty...

What do you want to do?

HUMANITY IN FREEFALL

O! Humanity flying down!
Will thou not catch thyself and stay a while longer?
Can you not hear the music within you;
The sweet reverie of morning warble,
“Live… Live… Live…”?

Look to your sky not to your feet.
Look to serenity not to the eyes of oblivion.
Look to the children dancing in the night.
Look heavenward! Right thy journey!

See the bird’s wing aloft in splendid flight,
May not you be like her and stay a while longer?

O! Humanity slipping `way!
Do not forsake this world! Stay within her arms!
If you turn `way and face not the writhing truth
You’ll let slip a fragile magnificence
And her children will laughter end

THE STORYTELLER'S TINY SOUNDS

Storyteller:
It is cold, unoccupied, lifeless;
Our child's emptiness traveling
In sparsely armored humvee.
Jarring and bitter, empty,
Insensible; our child's barrenness
`long side man’s unraveling;
Fatigued, armed and dying.
It lifts the massive durable toward heaven,
Then bows, bends and screeches as it falls.
Silence- Or so it seems,
This, a moment of solitude in a globe
Of explosion and volley
Escalating with the Arab sun.
The child warriors within;
Patriots, brothers, sisters, one nation
Spindling through the shell of molten
Metal’s blazing shawl.
A ringing ear comes leisurely
Near sounds of lamentation
For this; our numbed child's shrieking.
Tiny fragments of steel rain
Dropping `round our flesh
Spattering through horrors fabric,
At once soaking it, us.
What? You’re imperceptible, hush…
At first…and now it comes,
Spraying down upon the executioner’s table;
Tiny sounds,
tink…tink…spat…tink…tink…spat…
...tink, tink, tink…spat…tink…
This our child's numb life shrieking.

STORYTELLER: “…The cold, frightened and hungry child sits shivering upon the mountain top. The sun is enclosed in dark and menacing clouds. Just as the cold wind begins to take the child an angel appears. A voice as tender as moonlight, “Don’t be afraid my lovely child, just a small while longer.”
The weeping child looks up, “Are you a bird?”
“A bird?” now asks the angel. “What kind of bird my dear?”
And the child thinks for a moment. “Are you a blue bird?”
The angel now begins to flutter its massive wings and a warm wind begins to blow bringing a smile to the child’s cheeks. The wings begin to rise up like a tidal wave and all of the child’s fear now melts away. The wings now begin changing colors and the sky opens up and the earth is lit in a warm radiance and the angel disappears. On the ground at the child’s feet now lays a tiny bird as blue as the sea. ...The end.

GEORGE: `Houston, this is “Tiny Bluebird”, get me the hell outa here!' What are you thinking? Now? Now? No! Not now! That’s not the end! There is no happily ever after! 9/11 changed all of that! And you sure as hell ain't much of a storyteller neither! ...When the little shit was pooping ice cubes your blue angel summoned a lukewarm wind, and when the pipsqueak was terrified out of its skull it summoned the brat some half-baked courage! Right? Well tell me something, Einstein, what the hell did your beloved cherub bring for the kid’s starvation?

VENGEANCE IS OURS

On “Imus In the Morning” earlier today, Chris Matthews ripped into Bush’s handling of Iraq (Watch it here):

"Everybody was led to believe that we were getting payback, we were avenging what happened on 9-11 and that we are going to get them. … We pursued the terrorists back to Iraq. And it’s all nonsense. The reason there are terrorists in Iraq today like Zarqawi is we created the opening by blowing the country apart. …"

Therein lies the problem:

Payback!?
Avenging!?
Get them!?
Pure nonsense!
If we, the US, continue to push this theme
of “payback” or “avenging”, Bush regime foreign policy, this our “rage for 9-11″, then I’d say we will surely fail on all levels. It is pure idiocy to peer through the depressive lens of “revenge” and expect any positive outcome for the country or the world.
We have become what we were supposed to be “avenging”.
How sad.

FIVE THOUSAND MILLIGRAMS

Have you heard?
A country's taking the wrong
drug,
Slipping the
noose round death,
Fitting shores in electric wire,
Defending human rights in jest.
Have you heard?
Ground Zero to open in 2009.

The
country's ingesting Pantethol,
Five thousand milligrams in all.
Skipping out on the Pavulon dose,
Straight to Potassium Chloride.
Have you heard?
Ground Zero to open in 2009.

A country in this slaughtered age,
O! Can you hear the
failing noise;
Bombs and guns; depleting disgrace,

Chambers filled with a dying face.
Have you heard?
Ground Zero to open in 2009.

We longed for more. We yearned.
A lighted path, an eternal flame
Hovering there on golden wing
Instead, two-way mirror our malign.
Have you heard?
Ground Zero to open in 2009.

A country's taking the wrong drug,
Slipping noose of bloody election,
Fitting in shackles of mined metal,
And governing the self-injection.
Have you heard?
Ground Zero to open in 2009.
Have you heard?
